| Dear Parents and Players, |
The 2008 Spring Season and Opening Day are just a few weeks away. OBA participation is once again at record levels. We are looking forward to working with you and your children as they learn to play and love the game of baseball. We extend our apologies to anyone who was not able to join OBA this season due to late registration and over-capacity. Unfortunately, the number of teams we can field is limited due to field availability and practice time issues. From our standpoint, nothing is worse than having to say no to a child who wants to play OBA baseball (and meets our minimum ability expectations), but we do not have unlimited space and can only put so many players on a team to ensure adequate playing time. If your child was not able to play with us this year, we hope you will consider registering for our 2008 Fall Ball program (Mustang, Bronco, and Pony) and next year's 2009 Spring Season.
As we mentioned in our last issue of OBAToday, an important aspect of OBA is our affiliation with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). The word "coach" in the name suggests that this program is dedicated solely to improve the coaching experience our children receive when they play. However, coaches are only half the organization's targeted audience. The other half is us as parents. PCA's goal is to teach us how to impart "life lessons to our children through sports." We are the most important "coaches" our children will ever have, and the PCA program recognizes this by showing us how to use the ups and downs and other issues our children encounter in sports to help prepare them for the similar ups and downs and other issues we encounter every day as adults. Learning these tools is a gift that keeps on giving and allows for the kind of meaningful interaction with our children that is simply too rare in this hectic, distraction-filled day and age. I urge all parents to attend the PCA workshops we will offer on March 19. You (and most importantly your children) will be glad you did!
Lastly, I want to thank Brent Bamberger, with assistance from Anna Duncan, Michele Armosino, Ashwini Oak, and Sandra McGonigle, for all of their work on the new OBA website (www.obabaseball.com). Brent and his team did an absolutely incredible job. I hope you agree. It should be much more user friendly and informative. Please do not hesitate to forward any suggestions for further improvement. The site was designed for you, so we need and appreciate your input.
I look forward to seeing you all on and off the baseball field. Let's PLAY BALL!
Rob

| Place Your Ad in the 2008 OBA Handbook! |
Now's the time to submit your family, business, and team ads for the 2008 OBA Handbook.
Distributed on Opening Day to every OBA family, ads are a great way to show your support of your player, his/her team, and OBA. And, if you have a business you'd like fellow OBA families to know about, consider an ad in the handbook.
Placing your ad is easy. You can create your own ad or if you'd like us to create one for you, just send us a digital photo of your player or team and wording for your ad.
- Submit your ad to Gloria So at gloriasso@comcast.net
no later than February 15, 2008.
Be sure to include the following:
- For more information about ads or sponsorship opportunities go to the OBA Website.

| Uniforms - What You Need and Where to Find Them! |
| Every year, OBA will distribute a jersey and hat to your child. You may keep the hat, but the jersey must be returned to OBA at the end of the season unaltered. When you receive your jersey and hat, your Manager will let you know what color belts, socks and undergarments should be. All game pants must be white.
For those of you who are new to OBA, here's what we recommend:
- Pants - 2 pair of white pants (cuts down on the need to do wash every night)
- Socks - 2 pair (team color)
- Belt - 1 (team color)
- Sliding pants - Mustang, Bronco and Pony
- Athletic cup - Required for catchers, but strongly encouraged for all players
- Undergarments - T-shirts, UnderArmour, etc. are optional
Where to buy. There are many stores, but here are a few.
- All Out Baseball: 1741 Contra Costa Blvd, Pleasant Hill
- Big 5 Sporting Goods: 1630 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Walnut Creek
- Sports Authority: Several locations including Sun Valley Mall,1070 Concord Ave, Concord
- West Coast Sporting Goods: 1855 Alvarado St., San Leandro
