Although there was some rain for the Pinto players at Wagner Ranch, the 2017 evals were a huge success.  The indoor evals at The Fieldhouse were a big hit, and those kids had a great time.  A big thank you to all our volunteers (especially those working at Wagner with some challenging weather conditions), and our fantastic league commissioners. 
 

Now that the evaluation process is complete, teams will be assembled next week.  Parents can expect an email from their coach on Friday January 27.  At each coaches individual discretion, practices may start January 30, with all teams starting by the week of February 6, weather permitting.

And speaking of weather and baseball fields, OBA's use of the fields at Del Rey and Wagner Ranch is controlled by OUSD.  When there is rainy weather, or wet field conditions, the fields are closed by OUSD.  When this happens, OBA will receive an email from our school contact and we will update our commissioners, and also update the "Field Status" module on the OBA home page.  This field status module has an "updated" time, and parents are encouraged to check this if there is any question of field open/closed status.  Parents should be aware that coaches of teams practicing at Wagner Ranch may elect to have blacktop practices if fields are closed but there is dry weather.
